Integration of Distributed Streamflow Measurement Metadata for Improved Water Resource Decision-Making

چکیده

Streamflow data are critical for monitoring and managing water resources, yet there significant spatial gaps in our federal networks with biases toward large perennial rivers. In some cases, streamflow exists these gaps, but information about locations is challenging to obtain. Here, we present a catalog the United States Pacific Northwest that includes current historical location obtained from 32 organizations (other than U.S. Geological Survey), which 2661 continuous gaging (22% currently active) 30,557 discrete measurements. A stakeholder advisory board representatives operate identified metadata requirements provided feedback on Data Catalog user interface. Engagement resources community through this effort highlighted challenges professionals face collecting so findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable (FAIR). Over 60% of not available online thus findable web search engines. Providing technical assistance standard measurement procedures, collection, accessibility could substantially increase availability utility communities.

Web-Based Resource Coordination for Effective Distributed Collaborative Decision Making

Effective use of Web applications by distributed heterogeneous work teams depends on team ability to effectively discover, retrieve, and coordinate technological and human resources. Successful process and product delivery also depend on both push and pull delivery of information to meet both ad hoc and ongoing information resource needs. The described research extends current theory by analyzi...

Integration of distributed spatial data in a decision making context

The widespread deployment of communication networks has facilitated the sharing and exchange of spatial data between producers and users spread out over different locations. These users are not necessarily located at the same sites neither belong to the same organizations, but must cooperate. Spatial data is used to help user making decision in this context. Data is updated in parallel, dependi...

Participative Water Resource Allocation and Decision-making in Australia

Current decision-making practices used to determine water allocations between competing uses in Australia generally disregard the social, cultural and political impacts of these types of decisions and to a lesser extent the economics. Tokenistic community consultation, rather than meaningful and purposeful participation in the water allocation decision-making process, results in a lack of commu...

Distributed Decision Making for Metaschedulers

We propose a distributed scheduling algorithm for HPC grids and clouds that allows users, resource providers, and grid community to participate in the scheduling decision. Its hierarchical representation of dynamically configurable criteria integrates arbitrary aspects into the process in a well-defined manner; thus, the algorithm can accommodate different views and policies of geographically d...

A Metadata Resource to Promote Data Integration

Data integration is expensive, largely due to the difficulty of gathering relevant metadata. We observe that a database may participate in multiple integration efforts, and that much of the same metadata is required, regardless of which kind of effort is being undertaken. This presents a tremendous opportunity to reduce the long-term development and maintenance cost of interoperable systems, by...
